A Believer’s Testimony (Part 2): “And he led him to JESUS.”

Upon hearing John the Baptist’s testimony, which was not about himself but rather about Jesus the Christ, his student Andrew began to follow the Lord Jesus Christ. The testimony of John the Baptist led Andrew to Christ so that when he saw Him, he began to follow Him from there on out, and to share his testimony. And what was Andrew’s testimony? John 1:40-42 – “One of the two hearing from John and following Him” [Him being Jesus the Christ, please read John 1: 35-37] “was Andrew, the brother of Simon Peter. He first found his own brother Simon and said to him, ‘We have found the Messiah’ (which is interpreted Christ). And he led him to Jesus.” That’s Andrew’s testimony, a very straight forward message to his brother Simon Peter: “We have found the Messiah.” Do you feel like it’s not enough? That there’s not enough filler? We are invited to understand, by deduction, that Peter already knew about the Messiah and was expecting Him; and it was now just a matter of finding/seeing Him. Therefore, there wasn’t need for Andrew to say more, or rather for the Scriptures to report more than just those words to us. Andrew’s testimony was still on point; it wasn’t about himself, it was straight forward and clearly communicated The Christ; and it still fulfilled its purpose: “We have found the Messiah (which is interpreted Christ). And he led him to Jesus.”
